Enhancing Quantitative Research Quality: FEB Unud’s Bachelor of Management Program Hosts Data Application Training
Denpasar, Thursday, June 11, 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Udayana University, successfully organized a Data Analysis Training workshop themed “Strengthening Quantitative Research Competence: Application of SPSS and SmartPLS in Research Data Processing.” Held at the MM Building, 3rd Floor, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, the event was directly led by the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Management Study Program, Dr. I Nyoman Nurcaya, S.E., M.M. A total of 57 participants, comprising lecturers and students from the Bachelor of Management Study Program at FEB Udayana University, attended and actively participated in this training.
The primary objective of this training workshop was to provide an in-depth understanding and strengthen the expertise of faculty members in utilizing modern statistical software. In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Management Study Program emphasized the critical importance of mastering data analysis tools, such as SPSS and SmartPLS, to elevate the quality of credible and objective quantitative research outputs. This initiative is considered crucial given that data analysis instruction has long been dominated by the use of SPSS. Consequently, the introduction of the SmartPLS method is expected to serve as a cutting-edge alternative to address the complexities of contemporary business research phenomena.
Featured as the keynote speaker for this event was research methodology expert Widya Paramita, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. In her comprehensive presentation, she thoroughly unpacked second-generation multivariate analysis techniques, specifically Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) utilizing the SmartPLS application. The attending lecturers were provided with profound insights into the unique advantages of PLS-SEM, which is highly flexible for limited sample sizes, capable of accommodating complex latent variables, and simplifies the simultaneous testing of mediating and moderating relationships.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion and a hands-on statistical data processing session for all participants. The faculty members actively engaged throughout the session, raising technical inquiries regarding the relevance of classical assumption tests, standardized coefficient interpretation techniques, instrument validity tests, and the strategic utilization of the Hayes PROCESS Macro. Through this training, FEB Udayana University aims to further solidify the research methodology competence of its lecturers, thereby boosting the productivity of scientific article publications in reputable national and international journals.
